Welcome to my blog, I’m Alison.
I’m a daughter, sister, aunty, friend, cat owner, cyclist, pescetarian, theatregoer, feminist, manager, runner, adopted Londoner, music lover and dab hand at sewing. On Monday 9th January 2017 I learned I could add another label; I’m someone facing cancer.
Writing this blog was one of the first ideas I had when I got my diagnosis of breast cancer. There are a few reasons for this. Primarily, it’s so all the wonderful people in my life can stay updated with my progress as I venture in to this unknown new world. I’m also mindful of people I do not know who find themselves facing cancer, and are looking for stories that will inform and, maybe, provide some comfort. So, please share this blog if you think it is helpful. I have read a few blogs from others with cancer and I have drawn strength from them.
Finally, writing this blog is cathartic. Writing is a creative outlet I have always enjoyed – it helps me to shape and understand my thoughts and responses to the world around me. At times, I may dip in to self indulgence. If this happens, please let me know – I want people to want to read my blog, not feel obliged to.

So, let’s get going and see where this story takes us…..
(Disclaimer: This is my personal story of my breast cancer, diagnosis and treatment. I am not a medical expert, so what I write here is purely my understanding of my condition and my treatment. It is not medical information)
